SSA Baan Timeline
This a historic timeline of the product line now known as SSA Baan in the spirit of the
Linux Timeline. Feel free to supplement or correct anything.
1978:
The Baan Corporation is created by Jan Baan to provide financial and administrative consulting service. With the development of his first software package, Jan Baan entered what was to become the ERP industry.
A few years later his brother, Paul, joined what was to become the
largest software family firm in Dutch history.

Invensys notifies the world that it is accepting offers for it's Baan subsiduary.

2 June 2003: Baan is sold to an investment consortium,
BaanBoard post and becomes a wholely owned subsiduary of SSA GT, shortly after SSA GT rebrands itself to
SSA Global.

19 Nov 2003:
SSA Release Baan roadmap. Baan becomes a product amongst SSAs other platforms, known as SSA Baan. A web interface will be release for Baan IVc4, Baan 5.0c and forthcoming SSA Baan 6 (gemini). Development is reopened on Baan IVc4. No sunsetting of existing products.

March 2004: SSA Webtop 3.0: Release of standalone version Webtop that doesn't require
OpenWorldX? . Webtop is a common interface for SSA Baan IVc4, SSA Baan 5.0c and upcoming SSA Baan 6. Webtop is suitable for people that spend up to 50% of their time within the Baan application.
6 May 2004: "Baan Global Support" becomes "SSA OnePoint Support", but stays at
http://www.support.baan.com
9 July 2004: Porting set 6.1c.07.04 for Triton 3/Baan 4c4 adds long awaited support for SUSE Linux Enterprise Server 8 (SLES 8) and level 2 drivers for MS SQL Server.
4 August 2004: SSA ERP
LN released. Previously known as Gemini or Baan 6.0/6.1 within Baan and later SSA. Smooth upgrade paths from Baan IVc4, Manman and MK merging three discrete manufacturing products into one.
