ORA-00600 errors are not good and you need to enter a TAR to Oracle support to find out what is going on. I repeat, do not delay getting in touch with Oracle support on this!

You should check your Oracle alert log file for any related error codes. Possibly this could be an incident for Oracle Support as ORA-00600 are usually very obscure internal Oracle errors. Post the errors you can find the alert file.

Oracle Version

What version of Oracle are you using?

There are some known memory leaks with certain Oracle versions that cause ORA-00600 errors.

Mind the smallest number of your Oracle version, it's important. 8.1.7.0 is not the same 8.1.7.4.

If you have 8.1.7.0 then you have an unpatched version.

That's fully patched then. As Gilbert says, get in touch with Oracle Support and provide them as much as information as possible concerning the error.

I've gotten a ORA-00600 error and submitted an e-TAR on it. The e-TAR system recognized it as a 600 error and sent me to their on-line Oracle 600 Analyzer. All you have to do is follow the instructions and submit the required info to it. It will give you a fairly quick response and match the problem, if it can, to their knowledge base and any remedy for it. It sure beats waiting for an Oracle analyst to get back to you if it turns out to be something you can take care of yourself.
