About menu making

Hi, I am using baanIVC , now I need to make a menu ( not DEM )
to let our finance manager have the access to all the finance session and only allow her to access some other session that related to integration. Can somebody tell me how to make that ?

This is very simple.
In the tools menu, go to the desktop managament folder, in there go to maintain desktops. Create one, then create a gruop and add any session that you want ( you can modify icons and more)
Then go to user management and select the desktop option at the start up option. The run the data dictionary..

I´m out of the office with no access to a Baan IV environment (I can access Baan 5 via the web) if you need more info (session numbers or more) please let me know

Hi Armstrong,

There are few more issues to consider -

1. Shell access & Time zone - handled by the User Data Template.

2. If she need access to only tf menus/sessions, you need to create your own customized menus and also a new Role Template which gives her access to only the TF package with Insert/Modify/Print/Display or Full Authorization and for the other packages only Print/Display. You can choose the authorizations on the integration sessions, individually at sessions level, or module/package level.

Post menu BaaN IVC (in late)

To create your financial menu .. just follow these steps.

BaaN Menu / Tools / Application Dev. / Menu
maintain menu (ttadv3160m000) and create your menu code and designation.
with button menu (Editor mode), select Edit / form field and enter data (session code, position, label, number) for each sessions you want.

button menu field (only overview)

************ now you have your own menu with all session or sub menu inside. ************************

Define where you want to put your menu in the Baan menu browser
for exemple (finance part)
BaaN IV / BaaN Finance / Accounts Payable
you want to put your menu here

Go back to tools and Maintain Menu ...
in my case (maybe you also) Accounts Paysable has the menu code mtfacp1001m000 (for m for menu)

Search the specific menu in Maintain Menu (ttadv3160m000)
button Edit ... you can see all existing menu ..
you just need to put your own sub-menu
Always in Editor session, select Edit / Form Field and select your menu code.

you need to generate the menu with special zoom in Maintain Menu session and of course maintain all autorizations in case of.

maintain autorization
Baan IV / Tools / User Management / Authorization / Session authoriz.

deux ways : Maintain autorization by module or by session.

Good luck

Could use shortcutbar of Worktop

Another way would be to use the Shortcutbar in the Worktop user interface for this. Worktop is a new User Interface replacing the old menu browser, desktop manager, DEM browser and Process Viewer and is also available on BaanIVc4.
Using the Shortcutbar of Worktop you can create the menu by simply dragging the sessions from the menu to the shortcutbar. You can organize the shortcuts into groups, you can change the icons assosiated with the icons, etc.
If you use central deployment offered by Worktop you can even maintain her shortcuts remotely.

Regards, Ivo
