Barcode, BWPrint and Font

Hello All,

I am trying to print barcodes in a report using BWPrint on a BaanERP 5.0c environment. I am not using Report Script to accomplish that, rather I am using the standard barcode option while defining the field on a report layout. The barcodes are working just fine, but out of curiosity I have following questions.

1. Which method is 'preferable' to generat barcodes, when I know I will be printing to windows printer only. The report input field option or the report script option?

2. What is the relation between the barcode and the available fonts? For example, if I right click on a barcode in BWPrint and change the default font, to for example a user defined font, will it effect the text that is printed under the barcode or it will effect the whole thing? Will changing the default font make the 'barcode' unreadable?

3. If I have to print barcodes while printing to a unix printer, I understand I need a script file for specific barcode type. Is this script file 'printer specific' or the same file can be used for all the printers? Is there some setting on printer side that needs to be done as well?

Thanks in advance...

Best Regards,

Hi shaboo,

1. You can use the methods you prefer.( I prefer the script option)

2. It will change the whole thing and you have to test the barcode

3. It`s printer specific. HP printers need an additional modul (stethos) for barcode printing.

Thanks for the reply.

I created one sample report in BaanERP 5.0c and tried to use the following code in the report script.

Code:
detail.1:
before.layout:
brcd.fld = chr$(27) & chr$(22) & ")#)" & str$(edit$(tisfc001.pdno,"999999999"))
and I am using brcd.fld in the report layout. When I run the report, I do not see any barcode printed in bwprint but if I right click the position where actually the barcode should be , I do get the menu for the correct barcode type (code 39). Any thoughts what is causing this and how to make it work?

Try to change the number of lines for detail.1 to 3. The barcode field have to position in the first line.

Have a nice day!

Thanks for the tip klixy23 but I have already taken care of these settings, i.e. the section size is 3 lines and the barcode field is defined in the first line, but to no avail.

Any other suggestions?
