Printing Bar Code
Baan: Baan IVc4
DB: Informix DS 10.0 FC(x)
OS: HP-UX 11.11
C/S: None/Unknown

We have been buying laser printers with no resident bar code capabilities. To print a bar code from BaaN, we have been purchasing a memory chip; BAR DIMM and / or BAR SIMM which is an expensive adder to the printer.

Is there any other way to print bar code from BaaN?

Hi there,

I would guess that you can find laser printers which are capable of printing bar code for the price you now pay for the extension modules - so my advice is to change the hardware.
What printers do you use now?

regards

Norbert

There is a way to download a barcode softfont which is described for short here, and I remember that Kyocera printers have a builtin language called PRESCRIBE (but that is not PCL).

Barcodes

You can use:

bwprint -> giving you barcode functionality within baan for alle windows printers without additional costs

kyocera -> prescribe language (easy to learn), you can programm the prescribe commands within the baan reports

zebra/eltron -> you can program in the zebra language e.g. special for name plates.

3rd party software -> formscape or formdesigner (integrated in baan). Outputmanagement software, the raw ascii data stream from baan is transferred to a graphical layout including barcodes.

Regards,

Kozure

Hello,

instead of a BAR-DIMM you can use the more flexible WELP Application.

We have very good experience with (w)elp and solaris (native under solaris, >10.000 printouts/day, logos and barcodes).
