Hi,

You have to first installl client on application machine and perform all those activites which are require to accomplish server- client relationship.

After that you have to install baan application on applcation server and give database addaress through your client setup of oracle database.

Sorry I am late getting into this thread ...

You may want to check out the Oracle Instant Client. This has a substantially smaller footprint than the normal Client software and is easy to install - just put the package of files on the server that you want to connect to Oracle and use the proper connect string.

You do not need to worry about O/S as this approach is basically universal.

One other Client you may want to take a look at is the JDBC connector. This is VERY small (about 20K) and is quite portable. The approach is similar to ODBC, but more secure and easier to use.

Choose a simple way out

HI all...

Happy new year 2006...

I choose a simpler way and installed baan on XP with SQL 7 desktop edition

it installed fine but gives following errors

1 : process 1 - Fatal error : Error 521 (Shared memory not loaded) on ttadv002000 in db_first
2 : process 1 - Fatal error : Can not continue in ottstpstdlib (mess)
3 : process 1 - Fatal error : Error 521 (Shared memory not loaded) on ttadv002000 in db_first
4 : process 1 - Fatal error : Can not continue in ottstpstdlib (mess)

if i look for sharememmory manager its running but if i right click it and see the properties its BLANK...

START ADDRESS = BLANK
Maximim Size[MB] = Blank
Load Options all are Blank ...

and i am not able to access.. "Loaded shared memmors" and "shared memmory arear" tabs..
